Meet Ivan the Iveco Camper Van Crossing Dover to Calais

Just waiting in my campervan at Dover ferry port for my crossing to Calais, France and I got chatting the the owners of a lovely old P reg Iveco campervan/mobile home conversion who are parked behind me. The bloke, Ian or was it Neal? sorry mate I’m a bit sleep deprived, has done the conversion himself, and a nice job he’s done too. I asked if I could have a look and they said sure. When they opened the side door I’ve got to say I was really impressed. Lots of dark varnished wood and a layout and finishing ornaments gave this van conversion a wonderful nautical feel.

These nautical gauges from eBay really set the style nicely!

A fixed Double Bed in the Rear.

They’ve put a false bulk head in the rear so that the double doors open into an underbed storage area. That leaves the maximum space for a nicely laid out van.

Their van is called Ivan, as in Iveco and they’ve compartmentalised it to create a sleeping area and diner/galley. A walkthrough to the front cab makes it very practical too. Unlike my van where I have to go outside to get into the front cab. But there’s reasons mine is like that.
Those Little Improvements Like Changing the Van Seats In Your Campervan

As well as a charming and bespoke conversion, which he completed about a year ago, he’s also changed the front seats, putting a landrover seat in for the passenger. Ivan’s a P reg van and ooozes character.
I hope they have plenty of happy sailing/motorhoming in Ivan. Like all vans he said “there’s more I’d like to do“. They’re never finished! I hope you find inspiration on this site and perhaps we can borrow ideas from each other.
