Rapido 787F Motorhome

This was my first full sized coachbuilt motorhome and she was beautiful. Rapido were originally a carpentry company making top end furniture before they started making motorhomes. I looked at a lot of motorhomes and eventually settled on this “French Bed” layout which meant no need to convert the seating into a bed. Sadly I don’t have many pictures of this motorhome but here’s a few below:

I got this motorhome a week before the British government forced the nation into, what has proven to be an ineffective, lockdown. I was on my way to Scotland to do Route 500 when the lockdown started and made the decision to return to the South East but rather than go home. I opted to stay in my motorhome. I had a chat with the local police and they said there was nothing wrong with me (or anyone) staying in a motorhome and so I spent the next year living off-grid and I’ve got to be honest and say it was a fantastic time, despite the draconian lockdowns.

I did a number of small conversion projects to this motorhome to make it an even more practical and self-sufficient off-grid camper, including upgrading the electrical system, fitting an inverter and an electric oven.

Timelapse of Living Off Grid in my Motorhome

Lots of people asked me what it was like to live full time in my motorhome and so I put together a little timelapse video of my typical morning.
