Campervan Control Panel How to Build Your Own. DIY Replacement for the CBE PC100

Whether you’re hiring out your campervan or living the #Vanlife, things like our campervan control panel are going to break. Jess the Wonder Bus our lovely 2018 VW T6 campervan came back from her last hire with a broken light switch on the main control panel. At first I repaired it but it was obvious that it would just keep breaking due to a terrible design flaw. So I decided to make a better control panel that was simpler and better. What is wrong with the CBE PC100 Campervan Control Panel:

  • You cannot turn on the water pump without first turning on the lights!
  • The buttons are flimsy and as I show in the video seem designed to break.
  • At night the LED lights are a distraction causing light polution and wasting electricity.
  • Expensive! Prices range from about £80 to £200 for something that will most likely break.
  • The buttons only work if you push on the correct edge!

Goals for my DIY Replacement Control Panel

  • Looks nice and matches the van.
  • Much more sturdy to stand up to being hired out.
  • Simple to use!
  • Easy to fix/adapt/extend.
  • Allow the water pump to turn on WITHOUT needing the lights on.
  • No more LED lights on at night – bliss.
  • Do not waste money.
